What Is a Sigil?

A sigil is a symbol or sign that's believed to have a magical meaning or representation. Sigils can be used to focus energy or direct energy towards a specific outcome. The word "sigil" comes from the term sigillum which means "seal" in Latin. Sigils are also closely related to chaos magick, a modern magic tradition that emerged in England in the 1970s.

People use sigils to help affirmations or wishes come true, improve confidence, and gain hope for the future. A sigil can be a visual reminder of your intentions that helps keep your goals in the forefront of your mind.

What Is the Sigil Maker?

Our sigil maker is a free and easy-to-use online resource for creating your own sigils in seconds. You don't need any previous knowledge or experience of sigils or magic to try it out.

There are many ways to make a sigil. This tool uses the Kamea system, which turns the letters in a word or phrase into numbers and then uses the numbers to draw a symbol.

How to Use the Sigil Maker Tool

  1. Start by entering your goal or intention in the input box.
  2. Click Generate a Sigil to see a suggested sigil.
  3. Click to download or print your sigil.
  4. Click Generate a New Sigil to generate an alternative sigil for the same intention, or type a new intention in the box to start over.

How Does the Sigil Maker Work?

The tool starts by removing all vowels, numbers, punctuation symbols, repeat letters, and spaces in the intention or statement.

Then it converts the letters in the string to numbers using the mapping in the Western numerology system:

123456789
ABCDEFGHI
JKLMNOPQR
STUVWXYZ

Finally, the tool creates a sigil as a line through the numbers in this 3x3 square:

123
456
789

Example sigil

Here's an example of how the process works, using the intention WEALTHY.

  1. Start by removing vowels, spacing, and punctuation: "WLTHY".
  2. Turn these letters into numbers using the system above: "53287".
  3. The sigil for the intention starts with an open circle at 5 in the 3x3 grid and continues as a line that passes through 3, 2, and 8 and ends at 7.

Do You Always Get the Same Sigil?

The core Kamea method will always produce the same sigil for a particular intention. However, our generator also offers a randomized variation. Clicking Generate New Sigil will create a new version of the sigil that has the same start and end points but passes through the middle numbers in a different order.
