How Are the Numbers Assigned?
The numerology calculator uses Pythagorean numerology. Simply put, each letter of the English alphabet (A-Z) is given a numerology number from 1 to 9. The numerology numbers are repeated in a sequence to cover all 26 letters. The letters A to I are assigned numbers 1-9 in order. This pattern then repeats - J to R are assigned 1-9 and letters S to Z are assigned numbers 1-8.

- Convert letters to numbers: Our calculator converts each letter to its corresponding number using the numerology chart based on the Pythagorean numerology method. Then, we add up all the numbers assigned to each letter.
- Reduce the sum: If the sum is more than 9, we add the digits of the result together until we get a single-digit number. However, there is an important exception: if the intermediate sum equals 11, 22, or 33, we show it directly, as these are Master numbers and hold special meaning of their own.
Our calculator is different from other numerology calculators because it takes into account the role of the letter "Y". The letter "Y" can be a vowel or a consonant depending on its position and surrounding letters, and our tool applies specific rules to determine its correct role in each name. By doing so, the calculator gives you more accurate and meaningful numerology readings.
Chaldean Numerology Versus Western Numerology
There are a few different aspects between Chaldean numerology and Western or Pythagorean numerology. For example, Chaldean numerology doesn't recognize the concept of a Master number. These are the numbers 11, 12, and 13. In Western numerology, Master numbers are not reduced to their sums, as these numbers are believed to have special meaning.
The birth number is also different. Chaldean numerology uses the day of the month of birth to determine the birth number, whereas Western numerology takes all the numbers in a person's date of birth and adds them together.
