How to Use the Name Numerology Calculator

To determine your numerology number, follow these steps:

  2. Click Calculate: Our calculator converts each letter to its corresponding number in the Pythagorean numerology system and finds the total. If the sum is more than 9, it adds the digits of the result together. It usually repeats the process until it gets a single-digit number. However, if a sum is 11, 22, or 33, the calculator returns it directly, as these are Master numbers and hold special meaning of their own.

This tool is different from other numerology calculators because it takes into account the role of the letter "Y", which can be a vowel or a consonant depending on its position and surrounding letters. Our calculator uses rules to determine whether "Y" is a vowel or consonant in a name to give you a more accurate numerology value.

How Are the Numbers Assigned?

The numerology calculator uses Pythagorean numerology. In this system, each letter of the English alphabet (A-Z) is given a number from 1 to 9. The numbers are repeated in a sequence to cover all 26 letters: letters A to I are assigned numbers 1-9 in order, J to R are assigned 1-9, and S to Z are assigned numbers 1-8.

Western Numerology Versus Chaldean Numerology

Chaldean numerology is an alternative numerology system that assigns values to letters in a different way. There are several differences between Chaldean numerology and Western or Pythagorean numerology.

  • Master numbers: Chaldean numerology doesn't recognize the concept of master numbers, which are the numbers 11, 22, and 33 in Western numerology. Master numbers are not reduced to their sums, as they are believed to have special meaning.
  • Birth number: Chaldean numerology uses the day of birth (1-31) to determine a birth number, whereas Western numerology takes all the numbers in a person's date of birth and adds them together.
